To develop a compelling visual identity for Sakura-Con's 2015 event, I began by sketching and illustrating a mascot that captured the essence of the convention - energetic and vibrant. Given that the event was located in Seattle, Washington, I also wanted to incorporate elements of the city's culture into the design.

The result was "Kaname" - a character inspired by Japan's anime/superflat style, but given a contemporary twist through digital implementation, hand-rendered typography, and bold colors. The goal was to create a cohesive visual identity that blended the aesthetics of both Japanese and American cultures.

Throughout the design process, I created several iterations of Kaname to ensure that her personality was dynamic and engaging. The final result was a brand identity that captured the spirit of Sakura-Con and resonated with attendees.
